We are pleased to welcome you to DogZworth’s Nov 7-8, 2009 “Flyball At The Big O!” NAFA flyball tournament! Thank you for entering and good racing to everyone! Our tournament will be held in Montreal, QC at the Olympic Stadium. The address is 4549 Pierre de Courbertin. Please CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOGS – clean up materials will be available in our crating area. There is plenty of indoor crating. In case you need to reach me my cell phone number is 514-250-3013 or call Scott at 514-234-3013. In Quebec it is illegal for the driver to talk on the phone while driving. Please respect the speed limit- photo radar is here! There are signs to indicate the locations of the radar cameras (look for a sign with a picture of a camera). In Montreal right turns at red lights are not allowed.
Important: Please remember this event attracts 1000s of spectators that have never seen flyball so smile, have FUN and if any of the spectators have questions please direct them to our information booth. The flu season is here. We recommend that you do not shake hands after you have completed your races. Instead wave and say “thanks” or “merci”. Please remember to wash your hands often. “Purel” will be available.
Raffle: Don’t forget to check out our awesome raffle! Our featured item: a Mino Flip video camera! It’s perfect for capturing and sharing video of your flyball dog (or anything else).
Awards: Our very cool Big O 2009 tee shirts will be presented to every human team member before racing begins on Saturday morning. Extra Big O 2009 souvenir tee shirts are available for $10.
Special Awards: During our lunch break on Sunday we will be awarding special awards including our coveted "Bizzy Award" (presented to a rescue dog). For our “Bizzy” we're picking a rescue dog that really shines- your very special rescued racer. Since we don't know everyone's rescue dogs we are asking for nominations, but keep in mind that a dog doesn't need to be nominated to earn a Bizzy. We also have other special awards to present.
NAFA Awards (plaques) will be presented before racing begins on Sunday morning.
Friday set up: Friday set up of your crating area & flyball box drop off is highly recommended and available until approx 7:30 pm. On Friday you can drive directly to the flyball ring (or somewhat close). Keep in mind there might be some traffic in the stadium. There is no parking charge on Friday and you do not need a pass to get in. To get into the stadium follow the signs to the Insectarium de Montréal at 4101 Sherbrooke Street East (it’s across the street from the Big O). Turn into the insectarium. Watch for a ramp that goes under the street. This ramp will take you into the Big O. There are signs. You’re looking for “Le Stade”. The access door you need is called “Marathon”.
Pet Show Passes: Every human team member coming to our tournament needs a pass to get in on Saturday and Sunday. Passes were mailed to everyone but, if you need another, passes will be available on Friday in the flyball area. Passes can also be delivered to your hotel or picked up on Saturday morning- please e-mail Ally for more information. The entry fee is $12 per person (per day)- please don’t loose your free pass. You will need it both days.
Where to park on Sat & Sun: Use indoor parking lot A2 (4141 Pierre de Coubertin). You should ask for a parking pass for the week end (the cost is approx $12.00 a day- the 2 day rate should be a dollar or 2 cheaper). In the parking garage follow the signs to “Le Stade”. Parking lot A1 works too.
Where to eat: Food is available in the stadium but it is somewhat pricy. You can also bring food into the Big O.
NAFA title patches and replacement pins: see Kim from Hot Diggity Dogs. She will be happy to sell them to you.
The stadium will be open at 7:00am on Saturday and Sunday. Measuring will begin at 7:30 on Saturday morning.
Warm-ups: There will be a 1.5 minute warm-up period allowed at the beginning of each race. Time will start when you have entered the ring. The warm up time might change to a minute period. We will advise you if the warm up time has been changed.
RACING: Racing will begin at 8:00 am on Saturday and Sunday.
Our judge this weekend is Monica Johnny. Divisions have been divided according to the submitted team times. Each division has been assigned a break-out time one second faster than the top seed time in that division (for additional information see NAFA rule 5.5).
Round Robin (3 out of 5 format): Teams will earn one point for each race they win and 0 for each loss. The team with the highest point total will earn 1st place, the second highest will earn 2nd place and so on.
TIES: Ties will be broken in the following order: Previous head to head, fastest time head to head, over all fastest time
We hope everyone stays healthy but, if you need it…
For human health needs please see the head table. We will direct you to an on site medic or the local hospital.
